Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Add noodles and cook for approximately 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Drain and rinse briefly with warm water for hot dishes, or rinse under cold water for chilled preparations.
Serve in light dashi broth (Kake Udon), with tempura, or enjoy chilled with dipping sauce (Zaru Udon).
