Mango Oat Milk Smoothie with Fruit Syrup

A thick, creamy mango smoothie built on dairy-free oat milk and finished with a swirl of fruit syrup — ready in five minutes, no dairy required.

A smoothie is only as good as its base. Water makes it thin, regular milk isn't an option if you're avoiding dairy, and a lot of plant milks separate the second they hit a blender full of frozen fruit. This mango oat milk smoothie solves that with a barista-style oat milk that holds its body, blended with frozen mango and banana, and finished with a swirl of fruit syrup for a bit of extra flavour and colour.

It's five minutes, one blender, and works equally well as a breakfast, a snack, or something to sip after a workout.

What Goes In It

Why Oat Milk and Fruit Syrup Work So Well Together

The base of this smoothie is Barista Oat Milk from The House of Umami — it's what gives the smoothie its thick, creamy texture without any dairy. On top, we finish it with a swirl of fruit syrup from the Drinks & Syrups collection — we used Possmei syrup here, but any of the three flavours in that collection work.

  • Barista Oat Milk is made from 97% whole-grain oats, so the smoothie stays thick without added thickeners
  • 100% vegan and dairy-free — works for plant-based diets and anyone skipping dairy
  • Enriched with calcium and essential vitamins, adding nutrition beyond just the fruit
  • No added sugar, gums, or preservatives in the oat milk itself, so you control the sweetness
  • A spoonful of fruit syrup adds colour and flavour on top without needing to blend in extra sugar

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this smoothie without a banana?

Yes — leave it out and add an extra half cup of frozen mango or a couple of ice cubes to keep the texture thick. The smoothie will be slightly less creamy but still holds together well.

Why use oat milk instead of regular milk or water for a smoothie?

A barista-style oat milk made with a high oat content, like 97% whole-grain oats, gives the smoothie a naturally thick, creamy base. Water thins it out, and regular dairy milk isn't an option if you're avoiding lactose or eating plant-based.

How much syrup should I use?

Possmei syrups are typically used at around 30–45 ml per serving in drinks, but for a smoothie swirl, start with a tablespoon on top and adjust to taste — you can always add more.

Can I mix two syrup flavours in one smoothie?

Yes. Strawberry and litchi work well together for something lighter and more floral, while blueberry pairs nicely with mango for a deeper, tangier finish.
